Faculty at UVA Wise may easily put materials on reserve for their students, ensuring easy access throughout the semester. To do this, just follow this simple process:
Select the Item: Faculty choose the required book(s) or reading and research materials for their courses. These can be textbooks, reference books, or any other relevant materials.
Check Availability: Faculty should verify if the chosen item is available in the UVA Wise Library's collection. If the item(s) is not already available, faculty may need to consider acquiring the item(s) for the Library or placing a purchase request.
Request a reserve: Contact one of the Library's staff to place a reserve.
Provide Course Information: Faculty provide essential information such as the course name and course number.
Library staff reviews the reserve request and processes it accordingly. This may involve adding the requested materials to the library's reserve collection or ensuring the availability of electronic copies if applicable.
Typically, reserve materials have shorter loan periods (e.g., a few hours or days) to ensure fair access for all students in the class. Shorter loan periods ensure that all students have the opportunity to use the required materials. Faculty are encouraged to consider what loan period works best for their students' needs.
