Netbadge is UVA Wise's secure authentication system, allowing students, faculty, and staff to access various online services and resources with a single login. If you are part of the UVA Wise community, follow this step-by-step guide to learn how to use Netbadge and gain access to a wide range of essential digital services:

Step 1: Accessing the Netbadge Portal

• Open your web browser and navigate to https://in.virginia.edu/netbadge .
• Look for the "LOG IN" link in the navigation ribbon.

Step 2: Logging In 

• Click on the "LOG IN" link.
• You will be redirected to a UVA "first authentication step" login page  where you will be presented with two login options:
  • Use a Digital Certificate: If you're a current UVA student or employee on your own computer with a personal digital certificate installed or you've forgotten the password you use for NetBadge.
  • Use Your UVA Computing ID & Password: If you're an applicant for admission to UVA or a current UVA student or employee on a shared or public computer.
• Enter your UVA Wise username and password into the respective fields. This is the same username and password you use for other UVA Wise services like email or Canvas.

Step 3: Verification and Authorization

• After entering your credentials, click on the "Log In" button.
• The system will verify your identity and check your authorization to access specific resources or services.

Step 4: Granting Access

• If you are a current student, faculty member, or staff at UVA Wise, you will be granted access to the appropriate services based on your role and permissions.

Step 5: Exploring Netbadge-enabled Services

• Once logged in through Netbadge, you will have access to a variety of online resources, such as:
  • Canvas: UVA Wise's learning management system, where you can upload course materials, submit assignments, and interact with students.
  • Email: Your UVA Wise email account, powered by the university's email system.
  • Library Resources: Access to UVA Wise Library's digital databases, journals, e-books, and research tools, as well as UVA-Charlottesville Library's materials @ https://search.lib.virginia.edu/ through Virgo.
  • Student Information System: Access to your academic records, course registration, and other student-related information.
  • and more.

Step 6: Logging Out and Security

• To ensure the security of your account, always remember to log out of Netbadge and any other services you access through it.
• Click on the "Logout" or "Sign out" option. More information about logging out is @ https://in.virginia.edu/netbadge-how-logout .

Important Note:

• Keep your UVA Wise username and password confidential to prevent unauthorized access to your account and personal information.
• If you encounter any issues or have trouble accessing specific services through Netbadge, reach out to UVA Wise's IT Help Desk for assistance.
